✪ Coral Sea History ✪
August 26, 1964 - USS Coral Sea went into the drydock at Hunters Point for five weeks of underbody repairs.
August 26, 1966 - The ship was proceeding to Yankee Station and conducting a high speed run when suddenly the ship began shaking violently. Divers determined a lobe from the four bladed number four screw was missing. It evidently separated at the hub and had been drawn through number three's five blades, damaging that propeller also.
